Rules

In order to receive e-mail invitations to participate in experiments and other studies at CBS, you must register in our database using this online system. Please acknowledge the following basic rules of conduct:

  • Register only once in the CBS participant database. Registering multiple accounts undermines our scientific research. Any participant found with more than one profile will be excluded from all future studies.

  • If you receive an invitation e-mail, you must respond affirmatively if you wish to to participate. Spaces in each study are limited, so please respond early if you would like to participate.

  • When you register for a study, please check carefully that you will be able to participate. Registration may be cancelled until 24 hours before the session, but please avoid cancelling if at all possible. If you sign up for an experiment but do not show up on time, we will register this as a "no show". After two "no shows", you may be excluded from participating in future studies.

  • Participants in studies may be compensated for their time in various ways, differing from lab to lab and from study to study. Any compensation for a given study will be indicated in the invitation e-mail for that study. In some studies, compensation may also depend on the decisions participants make during the study.

  • During a study, participants must follow the directives of the researchers. The researchers will identify themselves before the start of the session.

  • In some cases, the exact number of participants is crucial in order to complete a study and it may therefore be necessary to recruit extra participants. This occasionally means that not all registered participants will get to participate, but all participants who have signed up and show up will be compensated according to the information provided in the invitation letter.

  • Registration in the database and participation in studies are always voluntary. The information that participants provide when registering in the database may be used to target certain studies to certain groups, e.g. specific age ranges.
Privacy policy

The CBS participant database follows the following guidelines:

  • All data collected during registration in the participant database are stored on a server that is accessible only to CBS research staff. These data are used only for recruiting participants for empirical research at CBS.

  • Data collected during studies are stored separately from the information in the participant database. The data are linked through code numbers which are stored in secure locations. The data will only be used for research purposes and may be shared with researchers outside CBS in anonymous form. Any study that you have signed up for through the database must inform you about the purpose and methods of the study and require informed consent. You can withdraw your consent at any time, and you can see, correct or have any information about yourself deleted at any time by contacting the person responsible for the study.

  • All human-subjects documents containing personal information are stored in secure locations.

  • You can unsubscribe from the database at any time, either through this website or by sending an e-mail with your name and e-mail address til coglab@cbs.dk. Your data will then be deleted from the database. You will be automatically unsubscribed from the database if you have been inactive for a period of 3 years.

  • The Department of Management, Society and Communication at Copenhagen Business School is responsible for this database. Please contact coglab@cbs.dk with any queries. If you wish to complain over the processing of your personal data in connection with this database, you can direct your complaint to: The Danish Data Protection Agency (Datatilsynet), Borgergade 28, 5., DK-1300 København K, Telephone: 33 19 32 00, Email: dt@datatilsynet.dk
